Q: How to apply for a membership of the Hong Kong Food Council?
A: To apply for a membership of the Hong Kong Food Council, simply fill in a membership application form, sign and stamp on the form, and mail it together with a copy of the Business Registration Certificate, a business card of the contact person and a cheque for payment of the membership fee to the Secretariat Office (Address: Flat A, 1/F, Hop Hing Industrial Building, 704 Castle Peak Road, Kowloon).  For enquiries, please contact Ms Lai at 3925 6808。

Q: How long does it take for the application?
A: After receiving the application, the Secretariat Office will submit it to the General Committee of the Hong Kong Food Council for approval.  It usually takes 4 weeks to process the application.  The Secretariat Office will notify the applicant the result of the application via email.

Q: How many types of membership does the Hong Kong Food Council offer?
A: The Council welcomes organizations, companies and individuals from various food sectors, and other organizations, companies or individuals sharing a common objective of promoting and developing the food trade and industry in Hong Kong to join as members. Membership is classified into 4 categories:

Institution Member

Registered local or overseas (including Mainland China) non-profit-making organizations which are related to the food trade and industry may apply as Institution Members. An Institution Member (Local) has the right to vote and is entitled to stand for election of the Board of Directors of the Council. An Institution Member (Overseas, including Mainland China) shall have the same benefits as an Institution Member (Local), but shall have no voting right.  The permanent membership fee for an Institution Member is HK$4,000.

Corporate Member

Registered local or overseas non-profit-making organizations not related to any sector of the food trade and industry or registered local or overseas profit-making companies which support the objectives of the Association may apply as Corporate Members. A Corporate Member shall have the same benefits as an Institution Member but shall have no voting right. The permanent membership fee for a local or overseas (including Mainland China) Corporate Member is HK$2,000.  

Individual Member

Any person who supports the promotion and development of the food industry and trade may apply as individual Member. An Individual Member shall have the same benefits as an Institution Member but shall have no voting right. The permanent membership fee for a local or overseas (including Mainland China) Individual Member is HK$1,000.

Student Member

Any full-time student who supports the promotion and development of the food industry and trade may apply as Student Member. A Student Member shall have the same benefits as an Institution Member but shall have no voting right. The permanent membership fee for a Student Member is HK$200.

Q: How to change the record of a member?
A: A formal notice in the form of a letter or an email is required if a member wishes to change its record.  The letter must be duly signed and stamped and be sent to the Secretariat Office for further processing.

Q: In what ways does Hong Kong Food Council help its members extend their network and increase their popularity?
A:
 The Hong Kong Food Council regularly organizes a wide spectrum of activities such as courtesy visits, luncheon talks, outgoing missions, training programmes and food expos etc to help members broaden their business network and exchange industry news with their counterparts.
