Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is going to organize a Food and Wine Business Mission to Sicily and Apulia, Italy from 24 June to 2 July 2017.\u00a0 The mission aims to help Hong Kong food and wine companies or importers better understand and tap into the promising wine and gourmet industry, particularly to explore the unfamiliar Sicilian and Apulian wines and gourmet and to enrich their product categories.\u00a0\u00a0The programme to Sicily and Apulia encompasses meetings with local wineries and food processors.\u00a0 It also features business matching meetings, food and wine tasting where you will meet and get down to business with local wine and food suppliers.<\/p>\n
Between January-July 2016, Hong Kong’s total exports of processed food and beverages increased by 14%, reaching HK$33 billion.\u00a0 Chinese mainland was the largest export market for Hong Kong’s processed food and beverages.\u00a0 The food and beverages industry in Hong Kong is largely related to re-export activities. \u00a0Hong Kong’s re-exports of food and beverages accounted for more than 90% of Hong Kong’s total exports of food and beverages between January-July 2016.\u00a0 On the other hand, Hong Kong’s wine imports have expanded fast since the elimination of import duties in February 2008.\u00a0 In the first seven months of 2016, the value of wine imports saw a strong year-on-year growth of 24.2%.\u00a0 Most of the imported wines originated from European countries.<\/p>\n
