
Organised by the Hong Kong Food Council, the first-ever “2015 Hong Kong Food Fiesta” was held from 27 November to 1 December 2015 at Fa Hui Park to promote local quality food products whilst further uplifting the image of Hong Kong as an ‘International Food Paradise’. The expo served as a platform for assisting Hong Kong food companies in product promotion and brand development while providing an opportunity for visitors to purchase foodstuffs and taste delicacies from around the world at affordable prices. The five expo was concluded successfully with over 200,000 visitors.
The “2015 Hong Kong Food Fiesta” featured approximately 150 booths in 7 thematic areas, namely Century & Well-Known Brands Zone, International Foodstuffs Zone, Houseware Zone, Dried Seafood Zone, Leisure Food Products Zone, Local Delicacies Zone and Fresh Food Zone, providing a wide spectrum of foodstuffs for visitors to select while admission is free. There were more than 30 booths in Local Delicacies Zone and Fresh Food Zone, in which visitors could find a great selection of fresh and organic fruits and vegetables as well as local delicacies. Apart from promoting local food brands and products, the expo also showcased a diverse range of quality foodstuffs from countries around the world such as Australia, Southeast Asia and Estonia with massive bargains. Free shuttle bus service was arranged to take visitors to and from Shek Kip Mei MTR Station and the expo venue.
During the expo, there were a kaleidoscope of performances for the entertainment of visitors of all ages, including a Cantonese golden oldies mini concert, a Chinese tea making demonstration, a Spanish “Flamenco” dance performance, cooking demonstrations, and so forth. Moreover, to show its care and concern to the needy in the society, the HKFC distributed HK$20 cash coupons to the underprivileged in Shamshuipo district and gave sponsored gift packs to them while watching performance programmes at the expo.
The “2015 Hong Kong Food Fiesta” received tremendous support from the HKSAR Government as well as the trade. Among the supporting organisations of the expo were the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau, the Environmental Protection Department, the Trade and Industry Department, Sham Shui Po District Council, Sham Shui Po District Office and major food trade associations in Hong Kong. The HKFC also expressed its gratitude to the sponsors of the expo, including Gold Sponsors Goodway Electrical Enterprise Ltd and Hop Hing Oil Group Limited, and other sponsors namely Lam Soon (HK) Limited, Lee Kum Kee Company Limited, Kui Fat Yuen Limited and Transform Healthy Drinking Water.
